About
Sockeye salmon begin their lives in freshwater, spend their adulthoods in the ocean, and journey home to their birthplace to spawn. “Sockeye” comes from the word suk-kegh (sϴə̀qəỳ), its name in Halkomelem, which means “red fish.”
