Cloth has been an integral industry in India, so important in fact that evidence of its existence can be found in the Harappan civilization 4000 years ago. since then, it has been deeply rooted in Indian trade culture. The silk road, an international mediaeval trade line had India as an important stop for this reason. Now it is the 5^th largest exporter of cloth and textures with export revenues of 37 billion.
